The Burlingame Historical Society welcomes: Bruce Cumming and Nick Veronico - authors of the new book Lost Gas Stations of San Mateo County Beginning in the teens and 1920s the SF Peninsula was inundated with automobile service stations, or gas stations, where smartly dressed attendants practically ran to one’s car to fill the tank, check oil and tire pressures and clean the windshield. The small city of Burlingame was no different… Book signing after presentation.

Music From Charlie Brown

Wednesday, April 2, 6:30PM Burlingame Library, Lane Room Jason and Sean Mendelson will present their childhood memories of being the voices of various characters as well as their discovery and rerecording of the soundtrack of the Easter Beagle special. We will be sponsoring this special event on the evening of Wednesday, April 2 at 6:30 pm in the Lane Room. Admission is free. Many know that the Charlie Brown TV specials were produced right here in Burlingame by the Lee Mendelson Film Production company. Infact, many local children provided the voices for the comic stripcharacters. In honor of Snoopy’s 75th birthday this year--and justin time for Easter--the production company is releasing for the firsttime ever the complete Vince Guaraldi soundtrack for “It’s theEaster Beagle, Charlie Brown." When Lee Mendelson firstteamed up with Vince Guaraldi, the television networks resistedthe idea of jazz music for a children’s animation film. Now wecan’t imagine anything else accompanying Charlie Brown. Grand Re-opening of the Burlingame Hillsborough History Museum

December 6. 6pm-8pm. Come enjoy the downtown Holiday Tree Lighting and the downtown Holiday Open House along Burlingame Avenue. At the foot of the Avenue you'll find the museum inside the historic Burlingame Train Station. All new exhibits, many artifacts and photographs and stories never before shared with the public. Special gift for Burlingame Historical Society members opening night only. After our re-opening our regular museum hours will commence. Every first Sunday of the month 1-4pm, excluding July. Save The Cupola

The Burlingame Parks Forever Foundation has agreed to spearhead the effort by soliciting funds for the cupola project. Many thanks to our members Laura Hesselgren, Carole Yashuda and Katie Terrones for help in promoting this effort, and identifying a painting contractor who will do justice to the iconic ornament. The Society has donated $1,500 to start the fundraising effort. We encourage anyone who would like to help bring back the sheen to the historic cupola to join us.
